Scottish Seabird Centre
North Berwick, East Lothian, UKTo facilitate remote viewing of seabirds offshore.
A comprehensive design, build and iinstallation phase was undertaken. This covered all aspects of the project from island based power supply installation to near broadcast quality wireless video transmission and remote viewing control systems.
Protecting the island installation from the worst of the North Sea weather, bird lime and sea-spray being a second major consideration for a system which has a ten year life expectancy.
Within the Seabird Centre the live images are projected, using the latest LCD technology, on to 3 wide screen panels. The island based remote cameras are controlled by visitors using three custom built contraol panels. A bank of Pioneer DVD players provide supplementary interactive material within the exhibition area and AV theatre.
This was without doubt our most challenging undertaking to date with some thirty helicopter flights, twenty boat trips and many hours of product assessment required to facilitate the provision of a turnkey system - a great challenge and one which we have learned a lot from.
