To aid student access to Heriot-Watt online facilities.

Heriot-Watt's initiative to provide a remote access space at their Hawick base, required careful thought and effective design to ensure success.

The purpose was to attract prospective students to make use of the remote access space and investigate not just the courses available to them, but also the comprehensive range of computer-based facilities the University has to offer. The access centre needed to be simple to use, attractive and able to withstand constant use.

We were responsible for the interior design, the space planning and the design of the multipurpose audio visual presentation system. We were also contracted to supply and fit all the permanent fixtures including exhibition style panels, a ceiling which concealed the audio visual projection rig, wall coverings and the floor coverings.

A tight timetable meant that our fit-out team were working on the project right up until the 'opening launch'. On the technical side, the audio visual team worked with the universities' technical department to ensure the audio visual and IT systems were readied and commissioned ahead of schedule.
